Claims16
Compounds, including optically active isomers and racemic mixtures, represented by the formula:
- ##STR11## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are each selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxy, chloro, fluoro, bromo, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkoxy and trifluoromethyl and any two or more of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 may be the same;
- R.sub.4 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl;
- and R.sub.5 is hydrogen or alkoxy;
- and the non-toxic, pharmacologically acceptable acid-addition salts thereof.

A method of treating depression in a warm-blooded animal, which method comprises administering to said animal a therapeutically effective amount of a compound, including optically active isomers and racemic mixtures, represented by the formula:
- ##STR12## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are each selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxy, chloro, fluoro, bromo, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkoxy, and trifluoromethyl, and any two or more of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 may be the same;
- R.sub.4 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl;
- and R.sub.5 can be either hydrogen or alkoxyl;
- and the nontoxic pharmacologically acceptable acid-addition salts thereof.
