Compounds having the structural formula ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or halogen, R.sup.1 is halogen, or trifluoromethyl R.sup.2 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, R.sup.3 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, and X is oxygen or methylene.

The method of controlling undesirable vegetation comprising applying to the area where control is desired, an herbicidally effective amount of a compound having the formula ##STR8## wherein R is hydrogen or halogen, R.sup.1 is halogen, R.sup.2 is hydrogen or trifluoromethyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, R.sup.3 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, and X is oxygen or methylene.
