A laminated, cylindrical, metal screen or molding element for vacuum perforation of plastic film or sheets, comprising two or more relatively thin cylindrical metal screens, each having a predetermined inside and outside diameter and each having a plurality of openings or holes therein of a predetermined size and geometrical shape, and said relatively thin screens stacked and bonded together, diametrically one inside the other thereby providing a screen of a desired thickness and a desired hole geometry wherein the holes in the screen have substantially straight walls perpendicular to the surface of the screen. A method of producing a relatively thick cylindrical metal screen for vacuum perforation of plastic film or sheets wherein the holes or openings in the screen have substantially straight walls perpendicular to the surface of the screen, comprising stacking and bonding together two or more matched relatively thin metal screens diametrically one inside the other.
A laminated, seamless, cylindrical metal screen or molding element for vacuum perforation of plastic film or sheets, comprising two or more relatively thin geometrically identical, seamless, cylindrical metal screens, each of said relatively thin screens being sufficiently thin so that it may be readily malformed and subsequently reformed to its original cylindrical shape, each of said relatively thin screens having a plurality of openings or holes therein, said relatively thin screens stacked and bonded together diametrically one inside the other to provide the laminated cylindrical metal screen, the holes of each of said thin screens being substantially aligned with the holes of the other of said thin screens, the individual geometry of the aligned holes in said relatively thin screens being substantially identical, the holes of said laminated, seamless, cylindrical metal screen thereby having substantially straight walls perpendicular to the surface of said laminated, seamless, cylindrical metal screen, and said laminated, seamless, cylindrical metal screen having a total screen thickness of about 0.01 to 0.1 inches.
A laminated, seamless, cylindrical metal screen or molding element for vacuum perforation of plastic film or sheets, comprising two or more relatively thin, seamless cylindrical metal screens, each of said relatively thin screens being sufficiently thin so that it may be readily malformed and subsequently reformed to its original cylindrical shape, each of said relatively thin screens having a plurality of openings or holes therein, said relatively thin screens being stacked and bonded together diametrically one inside the other to provide the laminated, seamless, cylindrical metal screen, the holes of each of said thin screens being substantially aligned with the holes of the other of said thin screens, each of the holes in one of said thin screens having a radial centerline matching a radial centerline in each of said holes of said other relatively thin screens, and the holes of at least one of said thin screens having a greater radius than the radius of the holes of at least one of said other thin screens, and said laminated, seamless, cylindrical metal screen having a total screen thickness of about 0.01 to 0.1 inches.
