Abstract
Ascochlorin derivatives of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a hydroxyl group, a lower alkoxy group, a pyridyl group, an amino group, a dialkylamino group, a phenoxyalkyl group which may have a substituent in the nucleus, or a phenyl group which may have a substituent in the nucleus; and n is an integer of 0 to 5, a process for preparing the same and a pharmaceutical composition containing the same are disclosed. The derivatives are useful to treat diabetes, improve lipid metabolism and control tumors.

An ascochlorin derivativee of the formula:

An anti-diabetic composition comprising an ascochlorin derivative of the formula ##STR21## in an amount effective to treat diabetes, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
An anti-tumor composition having activity against transplantable leukemia L-1210 which originated from spontaneous leukemia in DBA/2 mice and against Ehrlich, S-180, Meth A, L-121 and P-388 tumors, comprising an ascochlorin derivative of the formula ##STR22## in an amount effective to treat a said tumor, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
