Abstract
Novel tetrasubstituted phthalic acid derivatives of the formula ##STR1## are described, in which Y.sub.1 and Y.sub.2 are oxygen and Y is ##STR2## or --O--, or one of Y.sub.1 and Y.sub.2 is oxygen and the other is .dbd.N--R" and Y is --O--, and m, n, X, R, R' and R" are as defined in claim 1. The compounds (I) are suitable as sensitizers for photocrosslinkable polymers or as initiators for the photopolymerization of ethylenically unsaturated compounds or for the photochemical crosslinking of polyolefins.
Claims9
A compound of the formula I ##STR11## in which m is an integer from 1 to 4, n is 0, 1, 2 or 3 and the sum of m+n is 4, Y.sub.1 and Y.sub.2 are oxygen and Y is --O--, X is chlorine or bromine, and the group R is, or in the case where m>1 the groups R independently of one another are, straight-chain C.sub.1 -.sub.12 -alkyl, 2-hydroxyethyl, phenyl, p-tolyl, 2-, 3- or 4-methoxyphenyl, 4-chlorophenyl, 2,5-dichlorophenyl, 4-nitrophenyl, 4-acetylaminophenyl, 2- or 4-aminophenyl, 4-hydroxyphenyl or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 C.sub.p F.sub.2p+1 with p=6, 8 or 10, with the proviso that when m is the integer 1, the group --SR is bonded in the 4-position;
- and when m is the integer 2, the groups --SR are bonded in the 4,5-positions and the groups R are both identical.
