Imidazole derivatives

A compound of the formula ##STR44## wherein n is an integer from 0 to 1;

• ##STR45## is a saturated 5 to 7 membered heterocyclic ring containing the nitrogen as the only hetero atom in said ring, said ring being unsubstituted or substituted in one or more positions with lower alkyl;
• ##STR46## is a 5 membered heterocyclic ring having at most one additional nitrogen atom as the only hetero atom, from 0 to 2 additional double bonds, and, aside from R, either beingunsubstituted or substituted in one or more positions with lower alkyl;
• R is selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl, nitro, hydrogen, --COOH, --(CH.sub.2).sub.y --NHR.sub.4, --(CH.sub.2).sub.y OR.sub.3 and ##STR47## R.sub.3 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, y is an integer from 0 to 4;
• R.sub.4 is lower alkyl or an amino protecting group, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are lower alkyl or one of R.sub.5 or R.sub.6 is hydrogen and the other is an amino protecting group or lower alkyl;
• R.sub.12 and R.sub.13 are lower alkyl or taken together form --CH.sub.2 --(CH.sub.2).sub.x --CH.sub.2 ;
• x is an integer from 0 to 2;
• and R.sub.7 is lower alkylene.
