Abstract
An intermetallic compound comprising the reaction product of a transition metal and a reducing metal of a higher oxidation potential than the transition metal obtained by the reaction of a polymeric transition metal oxide alkoxide and the reducing metal in the presence of a mono- or dialkyl phosphate or mixtures thereof in which each alkyl contains up to 10 carbon atoms; and catalyst components and systems for the polymerization of alpha olefins.
Claims21
An intermetallic compound comprising the reaction product of a transition metal and a reducing metal of a higher oxidation potential than the transition metal obtained by the reaction at elevated temperature of a polymeric transition metal oxide alkoxide and the reducing metal in the presence of a mono- or dialkyl phosphate or mixtures thereof in which each alkyl contains up to 10 carbon atoms.
An intermetallic compound comprising metal values composed predominantly of titanium and magnesium values obtained by reaction at elevated temperature of a titanium alkoxide and magnesium metal in the presence of a mono- or dialkyl phosphate or mixtures thereof in which each alkyl group contains up to 10 carbon atoms for a period of time sufficient to consume the magnesium metal.
A process for the preparation of an intermetallic compound which comprises reacting at elevated temperature a polymeric transition metal oxide alkoxide with a reducing metal of higher oxidation potential than the transition metal in the presence of a mono or dialkyl phosphate, or a mixture thereof, in which each alkyl group contains up to 10 carbon atoms for a period of time sufficient to consume the magnesium metal.
