Abstract
An improved apparatus is disclosed in which a tensioned plastic strap loop is placed about an article. The invention includes a laterally adjustable forward guide. The guide is pivotally connected to the feed nip of the drive mechanism so as to provide a constant gap between the nip and guide. The rear end of the guide rests upon and moves with the forward gripper. Thus, a guide is provided which minimizes abrasion, can receive straps of different widths, and be easily and quickly cleaned.
Claims12
In a strapping apparatus, a front guide having a first passage therein and having its forward end pivotally connected to a rocker arm of a strap drive assembly;
- said rocker arm having feed and tension nips which cooperate with a feed wheel to propel the strap through said passage;
- whereby a substantially constant gap is provided between the region of exit of the strap from between said feed nip and said drive wheel and said front guide thereby minimizing jamming and abrading of the strap.
In a strapping apparatus, a front guide having a first passage therein for guiding a strap from a strap drive assembly through a hole in a movable front gripper to a seal region wherein the rear end of said front guide is adapted to move with said front gripper thereby minimizing jamming and abrading of the straps.
