Polyquaternary polysiloxane polymers

A polyquaternary polysiloxane polymer which comprises recurring units of the general formula:

• ##STR17## in which:
• A denotes a divalent .alpha.,.omega.-bis-(alkyl)-polysiloxane group or a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon chain containing up to 6 consecutive carbon atoms, optionally substituted by one or more hydroxyl groups and optionally one or more chain oxygen atoms and/or aromatic rings;
• R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4, which are identical or different, denote a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl radical or a phenyl radical;
• R.sub.5 denotes a methyl, ethyl or hydroxyethyl radical;
• R.sub.6 denotes a C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl radical or two adjacent radicals R.sub.6 together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached and the radical A therebetween form a divalent piperazino group;
• or two adjacent radicals R.sub.5 together with the two radicals R.sub.6 attached to the same nitrogen atoms, the said nitrogen atoms and the radical A therebetween form a triethylenediamino radical, or R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 together denote a heterocycle with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached;
• Y.sup.- denotes an anion which is Cl.crclbar., Br.crclbar., CH.sub.3 SO.sub.3 .crclbar. or ##STR18## m denotes an integer from 1 to 6;
• and p denotes a number from 1 to 50.
