Abstract
The present invention relates to compounds of formula (I) ##STR1## wherein Ar is a fluoranthene or substituted fluoranthene ring system; R.sup.1 is a C.sub.1-3 alkylene moiety; R.sup.2 is hydrogen or a C.sub.1-6 alkyl group; R.sup.3 is a hydroxy C.sub.1-6 alkyl group; R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are the same or different and are hydrogen, C.sub.1-6 alkyl or hydroxy C.sub.1-6 alkyl, esters thereof derived from condensation of carboxylic acids and hydroxyl groups of R.sup.3, R.sup.4, and R.sup.5 ; Acid addition salts thereof, which have been found useful for the treatment of tumors in mammals.
Claims19
A compound of formula (I) ##STR8## wherein Ar is a fluoranthene ring system or a fluoranthene ring system substituted with halogen, C.sub.1-6 alkyl, C.sub.1-6 alkoxy, C.sub.1-6 alkylthio, hydroxy, halo C.sub.1-6 alkyl, hydroxy C.sub.1-6 alkylthio, cyano, C.sub.1-6 alkylsulphinyl or C.sub.1-6 alkylsulphenyl;
- R.sup.1 is a C.sub.1-3 alkylene, p1 R.sup.2 is hydrogen or a C.sub.1-6 alkyl,
- R.sup.3 is hydroxy C.sub.1-6 alkyl,
- R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are the same or different and are hydrogen, C.sub.1-6 alkyl or a C.sub.1-6 alkylcarboxylic acid ester derived therefrom or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof.
2-((3-fluoranthenylmethyl)amino)-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol or a C.sub.1-6 alkylcarboxylic acid ester derived therefrom or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof.
2-((7-fluoranthenylmethyl)amino)-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol or a C.sub.1-6 alkylcarboxylic acid ester derived therefrom or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof.
2-((8-fluoranthenylmethyl)amino)-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol, or a C.sub.1-6 alkylcarboxylic acid ester derived therefrom or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof.
2-hydroxymethyl-2-((3-fluoranthenylmethyl)amino)-1,3-propanediol, or a C.sub.1-6 alkylcarboxylic acid ester derived therefrom or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof.
2-ethyl-2-((3-fluoranthenylmethyl)amino)-1,3-propanediol or a C.sub.1-6 alkylcarboxylic acid ester derived therefrom or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof.
2-((3-fluoranthenylmethyl)amino)-2-methyl-propanol or a C.sub.1-6 alkylcarboxylic acid ester derived therefrom or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof.
2-((3-fluoranthenylmethyl)amino)2-methyl-1,3-propanediol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
