Disclosed is a shadow mask comprising an alloy such as an inver type alloy and having {100} texture on a mask face. Also disclosed is a useful process for preparing the shadow mask.

A shadow mask for a color picture tube comprising a fluorescent face, said shadow mask comprising an alloy having (i) a face-centered cubic lattice structure and (ii) a f-parameter of the (100) texture on a surface of said alloy immediately adjacent to said fluorescent face of at least 0.35.
