Abstract
An inner latent image type silver halide photographic emulsion which is spectrally sensitized by adding at least one monomethine cyanine dye represented by general formula (II) to a direct positive inner latent image type silver halide photographic emulsion and thereafter adding additionally at least one monomethine cyanine dye represented by general formula (I) to said emulsion ##STR1## (the symbols are as defined in the appended claims). A remarkable increase of spectral sensitivity, an increase of maximum density and a decrease of minimum density can be obtained by this silver halide photographic emulsion.
Claims11
An inner latent image type silver halide photographic emulsion which is spectrally sensitized by adding at least one monomethine cyanine dye represented by general formula (II) to a direct positive inner latent image type silver halide photograhic emulsion and thereafter adding additionally at least one monomethine cyanine dye represented by general formula (I) to said emulsion ##STR9## wherein W and Y, which may be identical or different from each other, each represents an oxygen atom, a selenium atom, a sulfur atom or ##STR10## wherein R.sub.5 represents a lower alkyl group which is unsubstituted or substituted by a halogen atom or a lower alkoxy group, or an allyl group, Z, Z.sub.1, Z.sub.2 and Z.sub.3 each represents an atomic group necessary to form a benzene ring or naphthalene ring, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represents an unsubstituted alkyl group, a haloalkyl group, an alkoxyalkyl group, an aralkyl group, an aryloxyalkyl group or an allyl group, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 each represents an alkyl group substituted with a carboxyl group or a sulfo group, but at least one of R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 represents an alkyl group substituted with a sulfo group, X.sub.1 represents an anion, X.sub.2 represents a cation, and n is 0 or 1.
