Abstract
The present invention relates to high molecular weight thermoplastic hexahydro-furo-(3,2-b)-furane-3,6-diol based copolycarbonates useful as molding resins and to a method for their preparation.
Claims15
A high molecular thermoplastic copolycarbonate comprising the product of the reaction of (i) at least one bis-halogencarbonic acid ester of a diol selected from the group consisting of ##STR11## and (ii) at least one aromatic diphenol, said product of reaction characterized in that 5 to 50 mole percent of the copolycarbonate structural units conform to carbonates of said diol.
A process for the preparation of a high molecular weight thermoplastic polycarbonate comprising reacting 5 to 50 mole percent of at least one bis-halogeno carbonic acid ester conforming to ##STR12## wherein R denotes chlorine or bromine, with 50 to 95 mol percent of at least one diphenol, said percents being relative to the total molar amount of said diphenol and said ester, at temperatures between 0.degree. C. and 80.degree. C. by the phase boundary process.
A process for the preparation of a high molecular weight thermoplastic polycarbonate comprising reacting 5 to 50 mol percent of at least one bis-halogeno carbonic acid ester conforming to ##STR13## wherein R is chlorine or bromine with 50 to 95 mol percent of at least one diphenol, said percents being relative to the total molar amount of said diphenol and said ester, at temperatures between about -10.degree. C. and 120.degree. C., in a homogeneous solution with the addition of at least equivalent amounts of at least one tertiary organic base.
A process for the preparation of a high molecular weight thermoplastic polycarbonate comprising reacting 5 to 50 mol percent of at least one bis-halogeno carbonic acid ester conforming to ##STR14## wherein R is chlorine or bromine with 50 to 95 mol percent of at least one diphenol, said percents being relative to the total molar amount of said diphenol and said ester at temperatures between about 0.degree. C. and 80.degree. C. by the phase boundary process.
A process for the preparation of a high molecular weight polycarbonate resin comprising reacting 5 to 50 mol percent of at least one bis-halogeno carbonic acid ester conforming to ##STR15## wherein R is chlorine or bromine with 50 to 95 mol percent of at least one diphenol, said percents being relative to the total molar amount of said diphenol and said ester at temperatures between about -10.degree. C. and 120.degree. C., in a homogeneous solution, with the addition of at least equivalent amount of at least one tertiary organic base.
