Abstract
Cyclic urea/glyoxal/polyol condensates are excellent formaldehyde-free crosslinking resins for cellulosic textile fabrics and insolubilizers for binders in paper coating compositions.
Claims5
A process for producing a crease-resistant cellulosic textile fabric which comprises impregnating a textile with a solution of a cyclic urea/glyoxal/polyol condensate and a catalyst and heating the impregnated textile to cure the composition thereon.
A paper coating composition which comprises a pigment, a binder, and as an insolubilizer for the binder a cyclic/urea/glyoxal/polyol condensate.
A process for insolubilizing the binder in a paper coating composition which comprises including about 1 to 3 percent of a cyclic urea/glyoxal/polyol condensate.
