Abstract
The removal of dissolved oxygen from aqueous systems, such as steam generating systems, thereby inhibiting the corrosion of metal surfaces by adding to the system a composition in which the effective component is an oxime of the formula: ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are selected from hydrogen, lower alkyl groups of 1-8 carbon atoms and aryl groups.
Claims12
A composition for treating aqueous systems, such as steam generating systems, so as to remove dissolved oxygen therefrom thereby inhibiting the corrosion of metal surfaces comprising an effective amount of an oxime of the formula:
- ##STR3## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are selected from hydrogen, lower alkyl groups of 1-8 carbon atoms or aryl groups.
A method of treating an aqueous system, such as a steam generating system, so as to remove dissolved oxygen therefrom thereby inhibiting the corrosion of metal surfaces, which comprises adding to said system an effective amount of an oxime of the formula:
- ##STR4## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are selected from hydrogen, lower alkyl groups of 1-8 carbon atoms or aryl groups.
