Substituted pyridyloxyphenoxyhydroxyketones

A compound of the following formula:

• ##STR11## R.sup.2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
• R.sup.3 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, ##STR12## R.sup.4 is lower alkyl;
• R.sup.5 is lower alkyl, lower haloalkyl, substituted or unsubstituted phenyl, substituted or unsubstituted benzyl, or substituted or unsubstituted phenoxyloweralkyl;
• R.sup.6 is lower alkyl;
• R.sup.7 is hydrogen, lower alkyl or substituted or unsubstituted phenyl;
• W is oxygen;
• and
• each of Y and Z is independently hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower haloalkyl, or halogen, wherein substituted phenyl, substituted benzyl and substituted/phenoxy loweralkyl are substituted with one, two or three substituents selected from lower alkyl, lower haloalkyl, lower alkoxy, halogen, nitro or cyano at ring carbon atoms.
