Abstract
Inactive zeolites such as NaZSM-5 are activated by steaming in the presence of a binder such as alumina.
Claims7
A method for increasing acid cracking activity of alkali metal zeolites having a silica to alumina greater than about 12, a constraint index of about 1 to 12, and an initial .alpha.-value less than about 2 which comprises forming a mixture of the alkali metal zeolite with alumina and steaming the mixture at a temperature of at least about 300.degree. C. for at least two hours to increase .alpha.-value.
