Abstract
2-Substitutedthio-4,5-diarylpyrimidines, such as 2-(1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethylthio)-4,5-bis(4-methoxy-phenyl)pyrimidine useful for treating arthritis and/or alleviating pain.

A compound of the formula ##STR6## wherein R.sub.1 .dbd.mono or polyfluoro C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkyl;
- R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 independently=3-pyridyl or ##STR7## where X.dbd.H, F, Cl, OCH.sub.3, OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.3, S(O).sub.n CH.sub.3, or di(C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkyl)amino;
- n=0, 1 or 2;
- Y.dbd.H or Cl provided when Y.dbd.Cl,
- X must.dbd.Cl;
- provided R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 cannot both be phenyl;
- provided also that when ##STR8## then R.sub.1 cannot.dbd.CF.sub.2 CHF.sub.2 ;
- or a pharmaceutical suitable salt thereof.
