Abstract
Light sensitive layers in photographic elements are protected against exposure to radiation in the blue region of the visible spectrum by a yellow filter dye having the structure: ##STR1## where: R.sup.1 is alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms; R.sup.2 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms; R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are each individually alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, at least one of which is terminated with ##STR2## and R.sup.5 is alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms or fluoroalkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms.
Claims10
In a photographic element comprising a support, a silver halide emulsion layer sensitive to a region of the visible spectrum in addition to the blue region, and a yellow filter layer between the silver halide emulsion layer and the intended source of exposure, the improvement wherein the yellow filter layer comprises a yellow dye represented by the structural formula:
- ##STR49## where:
- R.sup.1 is alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms;
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms;
- R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 each individually alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, at least one of which is terminated with ##STR50## and R.sup.5 is alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms or fluoroalkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms.
In a photographic element comprising a support bearing red-sensitive and green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layers, a yellow filter layer and a blue sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, the improvement wherein the yellow filter layer comprises a yellow dye represented by the structural formula:
- ##STR52## where:
- R.sup.1 is alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms;
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms;
- R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are each individually alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, at least one of which is terminated with ##STR53## and R.sup.5 is alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms or fluoroalkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms.
