Abstract
A fiber aggregate is composed of a multiplicity of substantially spherically intermingled fibres at a needle-processing density. The fiber aggregate has a diameter of at least 3 mm, and the fibers have a length of at least 15 mm, and are free from being felted and intertwined with any other fiber.
Claims13
A fiber aggregate being unconnected to any other fiber aggregate prior to needle processing and having a smallest diameter of 3 mm. and comprising fibers, each fiber having a length of at least 15 mm., at least some of said fibers being intertwined to form a body of a substantially spherical to an elongate shape, and said body having a density ranging from about 0.01 to about 0.1 grams per cubic centimeter, the intertwining being such that a needle commonly used in needle processing technology to stitch materials together may penetrate said body and grip and withdraw any fiber from said body free from encountering any substantial resistance so that the pulled length would extend out of the body without losing its cohesion with the body.
