Abstract
Synthetic, hexagonal, lamellar iron oxide particles, suitable as corrosion-inhibiting or decorative colored pigments, containing about 0.1 to 12% by weight of at least one oxide of an element of the IVth, Vth or VIth Main and Secondary Groups and of the IInd Secondary Group of the Periodic System of Elements.
Claims16
Synthetic, hexagonal, lamellar iron oxide particles substantially homogeneously about 0.1 to 12% by weight of at least one oxide of an element of the IVth, Vth or VIth Main and Secondary Groups and of the IInd Secondary Group of the Periodic System of elements.
In the hydrothermal production and growth of hexagonal lamellar .alpha.-iron oxide particles, the improvement which comprises effecting such growth in the presence of at least one compound of an element of the IVth, Vth or VIth Main and Secondary Groups and of the IInd Secondary Group of the Periodic System of elements whereby the resulting particles are hexagonal and lamellar and the ratio of lamella diameter to lamella thickness thickness depends on the added amounts of said elements.
