## Abstract

A compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, R.sup.3 is carboxy or a protected carboxy group, X is --S-- or ##STR2## and the dotted line bridging the 2- to 4-positions of the formula indicates that the compound may be the 2- or 3-cephem derivative, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A compound of the formula: ##STR10## wherein R.sup.2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, R.sup.3 is carboxy or a protected carboxy group, X is --S-- or ##STR11## and the dotted line bridging the 2 to 4-positions of the formula indicates that the compound may be the 2 or 3-cephem derivative, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.

The compound according to claim 1, wherein R.sup.2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, R.sup.3 is carboxy or an esterified carboxy group and X is --S-- or ##STR12##

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The compound according to claim 1, wherein R.sup.2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, R.sup.3 is carboxy or nitrophenyl(lower)alkoxycarbonyl and X is --S-- or ##STR13##

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The compound according to claim 1, wherein R.sup.3 is carboxy and X is --S--.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The compound according to claim 1, wherein X is --S--.
