## Abstract

The products of the reaction of dimethyloldihydroxyethylene urea (DMDHEU) or an alkylated DMDHEU with a polyol impart permanent press properties to a textile fabric and contain only a small amount of free formaldehyde.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A composition for treating a cellulose textile fabric which comprises the product of the reaction of (a) dimethyloldihydroxyethylene urea or an alkylated dimethyloldihydroxyethylene urea with (b) a polyol.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1 wherein the ratio of amounts of (a):(b) is about 1-0.2:1-6.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1 wherein the ratio of amounts of (a):(b) is about 1-0.5:1-3.0.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1 wherein the polyol is diethylene glycol.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The product of claim 1 wherein the polyol is ethylene glycol.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

A process for producing a crease-resistant cellulose textile fabric which comprises impregnating a textile with a solution of the composition of claim 1 and a catalyst and heating the impregnated textile to cure the composition thereon.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

A crease-resistant cellulose textile fabric produced by the process of claim 6.

### Claim 8

The product of the reaction of (a) dimethyloldihydroxyethylene urea or an alkylated dimethyloldihydroxyethylene urea with (b) a polyol.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The product of claim 8 wherein the polyol is diethylene glycol.

### Claim 10 (depends on 8)

The product of claim 8 wherein the polyol is ethylene glycol.

### Claim 11 (depends on 8)

A process for preparing the product of claim 8 which comprises reacting (a) dimethyloldihydroxyethylene urea or an alkylated dimethyloldihydroxyethylene urea with (b) a polyol at about 10.degree. to 100.degree. C. for about 1 to 18 hours at a pH of about 1.0 to 6.0.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The process of claim 11 wherein (a) and (b) are reacted at a temperature within the range of about 50.degree. to 80.degree. C. for about 2 to 6 hours at a pH of about 2.0 to 4.0.
