## Abstract

The incorporation of minor amounts of mineral rubber (blown asphalt) in compositions comprising blends of both chlorobutyl and bromobutyl rubbers results in high adhesion to natural rubber or natural rubber/polybutadiene rubber substrates.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A rubber composition having high cured adhesion to high unsaturation rubber compounds comprising chlorobutyl and bromobutyl rubbers and up to about 20 parts by weight per 100 parts of the total amount of chlorobutyl and bromobutyl rubbers of a mineral rubber.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

A rubber compound according to claim 1 wherein the blend ratio by weight of chlorobutyl rubber to bromobutyl rubber is about 95:5 to about 50:50.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1, 2)

A rubber compound according to claims 1 or 2 wherein the mineral rubber content is about 2.5 to about 15 parts by weight per 100 parts of the total amount of chlorobutyl and bromobutyl rubbers.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

A rubber compound according to claim 1 further comprising about 2 to about 10 parts per hundred parts of the total amount of chlorobutyl and bromobutyl rubber of a process oil.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

A rubber compound according to claim 1 wherein said high unsaturation rubber is selected from the group consisting of natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, polybutadiene, polyisoprene, polychloroprene and mixtures thereof.
