## CPC

- C12Q 1/40: involving amylase
- C12Q: MEASURING OR TESTING PROCESSES INVOLVING ENZYMES, NUCLEIC ACIDS OR MICROORGANISMS (immunoassay G01N33/53); COMPOSITIONS OR TEST PAPERS THEREFOR; PROCESSES OF PREPARING SUCH COMPOSITIONS; CONDITION-RESPONSIVE CONTROL IN MICROBIOLOGICAL OR ENZYMOLOGICAL PROCESSES

## Abstract

A method for the assay of .alpha.-amylase activity, which comprises adding an .alpha.-amylase-containing sample to maltohexaitol or maltohexaonic acid used as substrate, reacting, at the same time or subsequent to the addition, .alpha.-glucosidase with the resulting mixture, and determining the reaction product to assay the .alpha.-amylase activity.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for the assay of .alpha.-amylase activity, which comprises adding an .alpha.-amylase-containing sample to maltohexaitol or maltohexaonic acid used as substrate, reacting, at the same time or subsequent to the addition, .alpha.-glucosidase with the resulting mixture, and determining the reaction product to assay the .alpha.-amylase activity.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

A method according to claim 1, wherein the .alpha.-amylase-containing sample is serum, blood or urine.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

A method according to claim 1, wherein the assay of .alpha.-amylase activity is carried out at pH 5-9.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

A method according to claim 3, wherein the pH is adjusted with .beta.-glycerophosphate or an inorganic phosphate.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

A melthod according to claim 1, wherein sodium chloride, potassium chloride or calcium chloride is added as an activator for the .alpha.-amylase.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

A method according to claim 1, wherein the .alpha.-glycosidase is originated from yeast.
