## Abstract

Esters of alkyl thiomercaptophenols, such as bis[2-(3,5-ditertiary butyl-4-hydroxyphenylthio)-1-methylethyl]thiodipropionate, used as antioxidants to stabilize polymers against oxidated degradation.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A polymer susceptible to oxidative degradation having incorporated therein a stabilizing amount of a compound having the following structural formula: ##STR7## wherein R is an alkylene radical containing 2 to 10 carbon atoms, a phenylene radical, or a radical of the structural formula:
--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --S--CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The polymer according to claim 1 wherein R is the radical:
--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --S--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The polymer according to claim 1 wherein R is a phenylene radical.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The polymer according to claim 1 wherein R is an alkylene radical of 2 to 10 carbon atoms.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The polymer according to claim 1 wherein the hydroxyl groups is para to the sulfur atom.
