Abstract
Electrostatic deflection is used in an oscillating bar drop-on-demand ink jet printer to compensate for about one half of the droplet displacement caused by bar velocity. The disclosed system provides a method for printing that is not sensitive to variations in ink droplet ejection velocity.

A method of correcting droplet placement errors caused by droplet ejection velocity variation in an oscillating bar ink jet printer, which comprises:
- electrostatically deflecting droplets in a direction to compensate for approximately one-half of the bar velocity induced droplet placement error.
