Abstract
Fluoroalkoxysulfur fluorides of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is H, CH.sub.3, CF.sub.3, or C.sub.2 F.sub.5, and n is 1 or 2, used as fluorinating agents to replace OH groups in organic molecules with F and halocarbon solutions of lithium fluoroalkoxides.

A process for replacing a hydroxyl group of a monofunctional or polyfunctional aliphatic primary, secondary or tertiary alcohol with fluorine, comprising reacting said alcohol with a fluoroalkoxysulfur fluoride of the formula ##STR9## wherein R is selected from H, CH.sub.3, CF.sub.3 and C.sub.2 F.sub.5, and n is 1 or 2.
A solution of lithium fluoroalkoxide of the formula ##STR10## wherein R is selected from H, CH.sub.3, CF.sub.3, and C.sub.2 F.sub.5 in a non-polar halocarbon solvent.
