Herbicidal trithione derivatives of benzoic acid

A herbicidal compound and the salts thereof, having the following formula:

• ##STR5## where:
• (i) W is O or S;
• (ii) Q is selected from the group consisting of O, S, and NR.sub.3 ;
• and;
• (iii) X is halogen, polyhaloalkyl, NO.sub.2, CN, alkyl, SO.sub.2 alkyl, SO.sub.2 NH.sub.2, NO, COO alkyl and COOH;
• (iv) R.sub.1 is H or a hydrocarbyl of 1 to 12 carbon atoms;
• (v) R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of H, hydrocarbyl of 1 to 12 carbons, and, when Q is NR.sub.3, SO.sub.2 alkyl C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 ;
• and
• (vi) R.sub.3 is selected from the group consisting of H, hydrocarbyl of 1 to 12 carbon atoms and when R.sub.2 is SO.sub.2 alkyl C.sub.1 to C.sub.4, R.sub.3 is selected from the group consisting of Cl, CN, CO.sub.2 alkyl C.sub.1 to C.sub.5 and SCCl.sub.3.
