Abstract
A method for synthesizing trioxane by heating and reacting an aqueous formaldehyde solution in the presence of a heteropolyacid. As the heteropolyacid, there is preferably used one that contains, as a coordinating element or coordinating elements, W, Mo, V or Nb alone or two or more of them.

A method of synthesizing trioxane which comprises heating formaldehyde at a temperature from 60.degree. to 200.degree. C. in the presence of an aqueous solution of a heteropolyacid selected from the group consisting of tungstosilicic acid, tungstophosphoric acid and mixtures of these acids.
