Abstract
The novel compounds 3-deaza-2'-deoxyadenosine and certain of its derivatives and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts have anti-inflammatory activity as well as immune response suppression activity. 3-Deaza-2'-deoxyadenosine and certain of its intermediates are synthesized by the enzyme catalyzed reaction of the appropriately substituted 3-deazapurine with a 2'-deoxyribose donor.
Claims5
A process for producing compounds of formula (II) ##STR8## wherein R is halogen, amino or substituted amino including protected amino which process comprises reacting a 4-substituted-1H-imidazo-[4,5-c]-pyridine base of formula (III) ##STR9## wherein R is as hereinbefore defined with a 2-deoxyribosyl donor system comprising 2-deoxyribose-1-phosphate and a bacterial purine nucleoside phosphorylase enzyme.
The method of preparing the compound 4-amino-1-(2-deoxy-.beta.-D-ribofuranosyl)-1H-imidazo-[4,5-c]-pyridine which comprises reacting a compound of the formula ##STR10## with 2-deoxyriboside-1-phosphate in the presence of bacterial purine nucleoside phosphorylase enzyme.
