Abstract
An oscillator including, a parametric amplifier which has three branches at the terminals of a non-linear capacitor C(V). In the pump branch there is a negative resistance dipole (D) which is able to oscillate at frequency f.sub.p. One of the two other branches is matched to a resonant circuit (C.sub.s) exhibiting a high Q factor at frequency f.sub.s, and the other branch is matched to a load impedance, namely that of resonant circuit (C.sub.o) at frequency f.sub.o .multidot.(f.sub.o =f.sub.p -f.sub.s). A high level output signal f.sub.o is thus provided.
Claims7
A stabilized microwave oscillator with frequency conversion for producing a wave of frequency f.sub.o comprising:
- a non-linear reactance;
- three parallel branches coupled to said non-linear reactance;
- said non-linear reactance's value being dependent on the voltage applied to it;
- the first of said three branches having a resonant circuit at frequency f.sub.s ;
- the second of said three branches having a resonant circuit at frequency f.sub.o ;
- and the third of said three branches having a negative resistance dipole for providing a pump wave at frequency f.sub.p ;
- said frequency f.sub.p substantially exceeding said frequency f.sub.s, and frequency f.sub.o =frequency f.sub.p -frequency f.sub.s ;
- means for inputting power in the third branch;
- and means for extracting power at frequency f.sub.o from the second branch;
- stabilization in said second branch at frequency f.sub.o being achieved by adjusting the first branch at frequency f.sub.s.
