Abstract
Described herein are flame retardant molding compositions comprising a blend of a polyarylate derived from a dihydric phenol and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and a flame retardant additive which is a metal salt of an aromatic sulfonic acid. The composition may additionally contain one or more thermoplastic polymers.

A flame retardant molding composition comprising a blend of:
- (a) a polyarylate derived from a dihydric phenol and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, and
- (b) a flame retarding amount of an alkali or alkaline earth metal salt of an aromatic sulfonic acid.
