Abstract
This invention provides a new opiate withdrawal use of an guanidine derivative and novel pharmaceutical compositions for such use.

A method of treating symptoms arising on withdrawal of opiate administration from an opiate addict which method comprises administering to said subject an effective amount of Guanfacine of the formula I:
- ##STR2## in free base form or in pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt form.
