Abstract
1,3-Dioxolane derivatives of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or C.sub.1-4 -alkyl, and acid addition salts of these compounds, a process for their preparation, fungicidal compositions containing these compounds as the active ingredient and methods for the use of such compounds or compositions for combatting fungi in agriculture and in horticulture are disclosed.

A compound of the formula ##STR9## wherein R is hydrogen or C.sub.1-4 -alkyl, or an acid addition salt thereof.
3-[2-(2,4-Dichlorobenzyl)-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl]pyridine.
3-[2-(2,4-Dichloro-.alpha.-methyl-benzyl)-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl]pyridine.
A fungicidal composition comprising a compatible carrier material and, as the active ingredient, an amount which is effective as a fungicide of a compound of the formula ##STR10## wherein R is hydrogen or C.sub.1-4 -alkyl, or an acid addition salt thereof.
