Abstract
Lubricating oils containing oil soluble hydroxyalkyl alkanoates have been found to reduce brake noise for oil-immersed disc brakes.
Claims5
A method for reducing oil-immersed disc brake chatter by lubricating the contacting surfaces of oil-immersed disc brakes with a composition comprising a hydrocarbon-based lubricant containing an effective amount to reduce chatter of a hydroxyalkyl alkanoate of the formula:
- ##STR2## wherein R is alkyl containing from 8 to 28 carbon atoms and one of R' and R" is hydrogen and the other is alkanoyl containing 1 to 30 carbon atoms, or mixtures thereof.
