Abstract
An adhesive consisting comprising an alkoxyphenol derivative/resorcin derivative/formaldehyde cocondensate has a high adhesive strength and can bond firmly polyester fibrous material with rubber.

An adhesive for polyester fibrous material, comprising an alkoxyphenol derivative/resorcin derivative/formaldehyde cocondensate obtained by condensing
- a compound represented by the following general formula (I) ##STR4## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1-3 cabon atoms, and R.sub.2 represents an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, and
- a compound represented by the following general formula (II) ##STR5## wherein R represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1-3 carbon atoms, together with formaldehyde in the presence of an acidic catalyst.
