Abstract
A silver electroplating bath comprising heterocyclic organic additives such as lactones, lactams, cyclic sulfate esters, cyclic imides and cyclic oxazolinones, preferably phenolphthalein.

A process for electroplating metallic substances consisting essentially of silver comprising the step of passing current through an anode, aqueous plating solution and cathode characterized in that the plating bath comprises an heterocyclic additive consisting essentially of phenolphthalein.
