Abstract
The subject invention relates to compositions of matter having the following structural formula: ##STR1## In this formula, R.sup.1 represents a C.sub.8 -C.sub.20 alkyl radical, R.sup.2 stands for a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl radical, and n is a number, 4 through 15. These compounds are low foaming and have acceptable biodegradability. They are particularly useful in the formulation of automatic dishwashing detergents.
Claims2
A composition of matter having the following structural formula:
- ##STR3## wherein R.sup.1 is an alkyl group having 8 to 20 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 is an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and n is an integer from 4 to 15.
A cogeneric mixture of compounds having the following structural formula:
- ##STR4## wherein R.sup.1 is an alkyl group selected from the groups consisting of C.sub.8 and C.sub.10, C.sub.10 and C.sub.12, C.sub.12 and C.sub.16, C.sub.16 and C.sub.20, C.sub.9 and C.sub.11, C.sub.13 and C.sub.15, and C.sub.16 and C.sub.18, R.sup.2 is an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and n is an integer from 4 to 15.
