Abstract
A composition containing furfuryl alcohol and an ester of a polyol and resin acid; and use thereof in foundry binders.

A composition containing a binder component comprising at least about 20 weight % furfuryl alcohol and an ester of a polyol and a resin acid in an amount of at least about 5% by weight based upon the total of said binder component and ester and a modifying agent for the furfuryl alcohol selected from the group of furan polymers, urea-formaldehyde polymers, or mixtures thereof.
A molding composition which comprises a major amount of aggregate and an effective bonding amount up to about 40% by weight of the aggregate of a binder composition containing a binder component comprising at least about 20 weight % furfuryl alcohol and an ester of a polyol and a resin acid in an amount of at least about 5% by weight based upon the total of said binder component and ester.
