A flame retardant polycarbonate resin composition comprising a polycarbonate resin which is prepared by reacting a dihydric phenol and phosgene or dicarbonate, a nuclear substituted benzoic acid selected from the group consisting of thiosalicylic acid and dihydroxybenzoic acid and an organohalogen compound selected from the group consisting of tetrabromobisphenol A and a compound having the formula ##STR5##
