Abstract
This invention relates to novel vincamine derivatives useful as cerebral metabolic and circulatory regulators. The compounds have the following structural formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a hydroxyl group and R.sub.2 is an alkyl group.

Compounds having the general formula (I):
- ##STR6## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a hydroxyl group and R.sub.2 is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and salts thereof.
Cerebral metabolic and circulatory regulators in which the active ingredient comprises a compound having the general formula (I):
- ##STR7## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a hydroxyl group and R.sub.2 is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof.
Cerebral metabolic and circulatory regulators in which the active ingredient comprises a pharmacologically acceptable salt of a compound having the general formula (I):
- ##STR8## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a hydroxyl group and R.sub.2 is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
A method for treating cerebral blood flow disorders which comprises administering to a host a therapeutically effective dose of a compound having the general formula (I):
- ##STR9## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or a hydroxyl group and R.sub.2 is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof.
