Abstract
Novel pyrazinyl -1,2,4-oxadiazoles of the formulas: ##STR1## are useful in treating edema and hypertension, and particularly may be combined with kaliuretic diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide and indacrinone.
Claims6
A pharmaceutical composition useful in the treatment of edema and hypertension which comprises a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, a kaliuretic diuretic, and a compound of the formula:
- ##STR6## wherein:
- R.sub.1 is hydrogen or methyl;
- R.sup.1 is hydrogen or methyl;
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen or methyl;
- R.sup.3 is hydrogen or methyl;
- R.sup.4 is methyl;
- X is halo;
- Y.sup.- is chloride, bromide or iodide.
A method of treatment of edema and hypertension which comprises administering to a patient in need of such treatment a pharmaceutically effective dose of a kaliuretic diuretic and a compound of the formula:
- ##STR7## wherein:
- R.sub.1 is hydrogen or methyl;
- R.sup.1 is hydrogen or methyl;
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen or methyl;
- R.sup.3 is hydrogen or methyl;
- R.sup.4 is methyl;
- X is halo;
- Y.sup.- chloride, bromide or iodide.
