Abstract
The use of an organic phosphorus acid compound to extend the pot life of urethane reaction mixtures is disclosed.
Claims10
A polyurethane reaction mixture consisting essentially of an organic polyisocyanate, a substantially equivalent amount of an organic compound having at least two isocyanate reactive hydrogen moieties, a tetrabutyl titanate catalyst, and a sufficient amount of an organic phosphorus acid compound to extend the pot life of said reaction mixture at typical processing and handling temperatures without substantially affecting its cure at higher temperatures.
In a method for making polyurethane articles comprising reacting an organic polyisocyanate and an organic compound containing at least two isocyanate reactive hydrogens in a reaction mixture containing tetrabutyl titanate catalyst, the improvement which comprises adding to said reaction mixture an organic phosphorus compound in sufficient amount to extend the pot life of said reaction mixture at typical processing and handling temperatures without substantially affecting its cure at higher temperatures.
