Abstract
Aqueous latex base binder of a synthetic polymer for manufacturing nonwoven fabrics, and specifically webs for sanitary use having improved breaking strength. The content in the latex of hydrosoluble compounds dissolved in the aqueous phase is less than 0.5% by weight in relation to the polymer.
Claims6
Process for the manufacture of nonwoven fabrics comprising the steps of forming a nonwoven web of fibers, wetting the web with an aqueous latex base binder of a synthetic polymer selected from the group consisting of styrene-butadiene copolymers, carboxylated styrene-butadiene copolymers, alkyl acrylate-vinyl chloride copolymers, carboxylated alkyl acrylate-vinyl chloride copolymers, vinylidene chloride-vinyl chloride copolymers, carboxylated vinylidene chloride-vinyl chloride copolymers, alkyl polyacrylates and carboxylated alkyl polyacrylates, in which the hydrosoluble compounds in solution in the aqueous phase of the latex is less than 0.5% by weight in relation to the polymer, compressing the web wetted with the binder composition to ensure penetration into the web and then drying the web to form the nonwoven fabric.
Process for the manufacture of nonwoven fabrics comprising the steps of forming a nonwoven web of fibers, wetting the web with an aqueous latex base binder which has been subjected to ultrafiltration, through a semi-permeable membrane, to remove a quantity of hydrosoluble compounds, while water has been added to maintain the ponderal content of dry material in the latex within the range of 5-70% by weight, compressing the web wetted with the binder composition to ensure penetration into the web, and then drying the web to form the nonwwoven fabric.
