Abstract
The invention relates to a radiation curable liquid coating composition based on (A) an epoxy compound containing an acryloyl and/or methacryloyl group, (B) a cross-linking agent for the epoxy groups of component (A) and a photoinitiator. The invention also relates to a process for coating a substrate with such a composition, and to the substrate thus manufactured.
Claims7
A process for coating a substrate which comprises applying to the substrate a radiation curable composition comprising
- (1) an epoxy compound which consists essentially of an epoxy compound which contains at least one acryloyl or methacryloyl group,
- (2) a photoinitiator, and
- (3) a cross-linking agent which reacts at ambient temperature with the epoxy groups of (1) and is a member selected from the group consisting of amines, polyaminoamides, aldimines, ketimines, and carboxylic acids physically blended together,
- exposing the resulting coating to U.V. radiation at an ambient temperature to polymerize the epoxy compound and chemically reacting the epoxy groups with the cross-linking agent.
