Abstract
A process is described for paraffin-olefin alkylation under strong acid conditions in which an aminoalkyladamantane hydrocarbon is used to substantially improve the reaction.
Claims14
An alkylation process comprising contacting a C.sub.4 -C.sub.6 linear or branched paraffinic compound, capable of forming a carbonium ion under strong acid conditions, with a C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 olefin in the presence of a strong acid system and an aminoalkyladamantane hydrocarbon containing at least one unsubstituted bridgehead position, at a temperature of about -100.degree. to 150.degree. C., thereby producing a C.sub.6 -C.sub.11 branched paraffinic hydrocarbon.
