Abstract
O-.alpha.-D-glucopyranosyl(1.fwdarw.4)-[O-.alpha.-D-glucopyranosyl-(1.fwdar w.4)].sub.n -O-.beta.-D-glucopyranosyl(1.fwdarw.6)-.beta.-D-fructofuranosyl-O-.alpha.- D-galactopyranosyl(1.fwdarw.6)-.alpha.-D-glucopyranoside sulfate salts, useful as inhibitors of the complement system and the process of making such compounds.
Claims16
A compound selected from those of the formula:
- ##STR27## wherein n is an integer from zero to five, inclusive;
- X is --SO.sub.3 A;
- and A is a pharmaceutically acceptable cation salt, wherein the salt forming moiety is selected from the group consisting of alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonia and substituted ammonia selected from the group consisting of trialkylamine (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6), piperidine, pyrazine, alkanolamine (C.sub.2 -C.sub.6) and cycloalkylamine (C.sub.3 -C.sub.6).
A method of inhibiting the complement system in a body fluid which comprises subjecting said body fluid to the action of an effective complement inhibiting amount of a pharmaceutically acceptable compound selected from those of the formula:
- ##STR32## wherein n is an integer from zero to five, inclusive;
- X is --SO.sub.3 A;
- and A is a pharmaceutically acceptable cation salt, wherein the salt forming moiety is selected from the group consisting of alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonia and substituted ammonia selected from the group consisting of trialkylamine (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6), piperidine, pyrazine, alkanolamine (C.sub.2 -C.sub.6) and cycloalkylamine (C.sub.3 -C.sub.6).
A method of inhibiting the complement system in warm-blooded animal which comprises administering to said warm-blooded animal an effective complement inhibiting amount of a pharmaceutically acceptable compound selected from those of the formula:
- ##STR33## wherein n is an integer from zero to five, inclusive;
- X is --SO.sub.3 A;
- and A is a pharmaceutically acceptable cation salt, wherein the salt forming moiety is selected from the group consisting of alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonia and substituted ammonia selected from the group consisting of trialkylamine (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6), piperidine, pyrazine, alkanolamine (C.sub.2 -C.sub.6) and cycloalkylamine (C.sub.3 -C.sub.6).
