Abstract
Novel oxazolinoazetidinone compounds are prepared by the reaction of chloroazetidinones with lead difluoride in dimethyl sulfoxide.
Claims7
A compound of the formula ##STR7## wherein R is hydrogen, t-butyl, dimethylallyl, 2-iodoethyl, 2,2,2-trichloroethyl, benzyl, 4-methoxybenzyl, 4-nitrobenzyl, diphenylmethyl, phenacyl, 4-halophenacyl, tri(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl)silyl, or C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkanoyl;
- and R.sub.1 is
- (a) hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or halo(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl);
- (b) a group R.sub.6 wherein R.sub.6 is phenyl or phenyl substituted by 1 or 2 groups selected from the group consisting of fluoro, chloro, bromo, iodo, nitro, cyano, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, formyloxy, chloroacetoxy, benzyloxy, benzhydryloxy, trityloxy, 4-nitrobenzyloxy, trimethylsilyloxy, phenacyloxy, methoxymethoxy, tetrahydropyranyloxy, carbamyl, trifluoromethyl and methanesulfonamido;
- (c) a group of the formula
- R.sub.6 (O).sub.m CH.sub.2 --
- wherein m is 1 or 0 and R.sub.6 is as defined above;
- (d) a group of the formula
- R.sub.6a CH.sub.2 --
- wherein R.sub.6a is cyclohexadienyl, 2-furyl, 2-thienyl, or 3-thienyl;
- or
- (e) a group of the formula --COOR wherein R is as defined above.
