A process of applying dyestuffs and/or chemicals or finishing materials to textiles, fibrous products, sheet materials, paper or fleeces, characterized in that said dyestuffs and/or chemicals or finishing materials are applied indirectly in an electrostatic field between a high-voltage grid electrode and a grounded electrode, and are applied substantially perpendicular to said electrostatic field.
